As a representative of all those black Kentucky women who endured prejudice and hardship just to make a living in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Miss Dinnie Thompson is anything but ordinary. Through her friendship with a young social worker, Elizabeth Wilson, Miss Dinnie’s extraordinary story has been preserved as a testimony to the memory of thousands of “ordinary” women like her. This program is presented through the Kentucky Humanities Council and the Kentucky Chautauqua.
