Sheri L. Orlowitz
Sheri Orlowitz is principal of SLOCO Consulting Group. She works with private equity funds in various capacities, from driving top line growth to crisis management for their portfolio companies.
Previously, Ms. Orlowitz founded and was majority owner, chairman and CEO of Shan Industries, LLC, a holding company that purchased and operated manufacturing companies. In addition to Shan she has founded two other profitable businesses, employed close to 1,000 people, and raised over $80 million from financial institutions, private equity firms and investors for her entrepreneurial endeavors. These ranged from real estate development to manufacturing high-speed recorders for U.S. fighter jets.
Ms. Orlowitz is an international speaker on all aspects of entrepreneurialism, mergers and acquisitions and accessing capital, and spends a significant amount of time supporting and mentoring other women business owners. Prior to her business career, Sheri practiced law. She entered the U.S. Department of Justice through the Attorney General's Honors Program and went on to become a senior associate for Greenberg Traurig, an AmLaw 100 firm among the top-grossing law firms in the country
Civic, social and philanthropic causes are important to Ms. Orlowitz. She was appointed to the National Women’s Business Council, and served on Harvard University Women’s Leadership Board and as a National Partner for Women Impacting Public Policy. She is proud to have founded the Orlowitz-Lee Children’s Advocacy Center in Miami, a one-stop shop housing most of the agencies which provide services to sexually abused children. She also serves on the Advisory Board of CapitalOne Bank and a number of other for- and non-profit boards.
Ms. Orlowitz’s numerous awards include A Leading Woman Entrepreneur of the World award from The Star Group, A Women-Owned Business Star from Women’s Business Enterprise National Council, and Enterprising Woman of the Year from Enterprising Women Magazine. She was a semi-finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Ms. Orlowitz holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Miami and a Juris Doctor from American University, where she was the Founding Editor of the American University International Law Review.
