“Yes, those were earnest days and so are these to those who take in the full import of the situation. I do not know what we are coming to; they talk about disfranchising the negro as if it were no crime; but the pendulum will swing back I think after a while. I remember the lady who called at our home. She was very much interested in looking at the table. I wish you could write something on a good sized card or bit of paper that I could paste on so as to say it was done by a McClintock! If you do not or cannot, I shall write something myself if I live long enough to do the job.
